rar files

Could anyone tell me how to open rar files in Knoppix 7.3?I tried sudo apt-get install rar unrar, but get the message:Package rar is not available, but is referred to by another package.This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, oris only available from another sourceE: Package 'rar' has no installation candidateE: Package 'unrar' has no installation candidate

You could download the following packages and try to install them with dpkg.

Unarchiver for .rar files (non-free version), download package (i386)

non-free rar module for p7zip, download package (i386)

Archiver for .rar files, download package (i386)

I tried sudo apt-get install rar unrar

Did you use

su
aptitude update

before this?

Always thought that the Linux port of 7z could unpack .rar files until being pointed out by the post. Gonna add the p7zip-rar to my todo list. Thanks for the heads-up!
