    Acer C720 Touchpad not detected

    Hello,

I own two netbooks Acer C720 which have had both a cyapa i2c touchpad and have been working nicely with FreeBSD. After returning one of them to Acer.com for repair
it returned with a new touchpad and keyboard. The cyapa is/was at address 0x67, the TP new seems to be at 0x15 and is perhaps an ElanTech touchpad. It seems that
the KNOPPIX 7.6.1 has no support for this as well, because the support in the Linux kernel was added in drivers/plattform/chrome/chromeos_laptop.c in June this year,
    it's visible in linux-4.7-rc6.

Is there any chance to get a KNOPPIX (or some other live Linux onto an USB key) which is based on such recent version of Linux?

    Thanks in advance

    Matthias

    Hello, Matthias.

It's a bit early for most distros to have a 4.7 Kernel offering. See
    https://www.kernel.org/

You may want to invest in a usb or laser mouse to tide you over.
I prefer these to touchpads anyway.

Regards; and welcome to the forum.

    Hello,

My idea is not to work with the netbook using KNOPPIX, but to investigate the hardware and port over, if possible,
the driver which exists in linux-4.7-rc6 and perhaps also in OpenBSD 5.9 to FreeBSD. Re/ usage of touchpad in general:
I do not like any mouse, I'm used to touchpads. And, you can not use a mouse if you do not have a desk or any other
    surface like this.

Thanks for your hint and Welcome in any case

    Matthias
