    suggests to start the pulseaudio demon a la: /etc/init.d/pulseaudio start

    However:

    $ which pulseaudio
    $
    $ ls -l /etc/init.d/pulseaudio
    ls: cannot access '/etc/init.d/pulseaudio': No such file or directory

    $ sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio start
    sudo: /etc/init.d/pulseaudio: command not found

    $ ps aux | grep pulseaudio

    How can you start pulseaudio (or (re)install it?) if needed?

    Hello!

    I suggest you open an LXTerminal and issue the following commands.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install pulseaudio pavucontrol
    mkdir -p ~/.config/pulse
    echo "autospawn=yes" > ~/.config/pulse/client.conf
    echo "daemon-binary = /usr/bin/pulseaudio" >> ~/.config/pulse/client.conf
    restartx
    Use the PulseAudio volume control from the "Multimedia" menu to adjust settings.
