XMMS plays low bitrate mp3's too fast

Well the title really says it all, XMMS plays my 128 kbps mp3's alright but those with a low bitrate (24 kbps) it plays too fast. (The sound is all squeeky.) Same goes for mpg321.

Anybody have an idea what's going on? I'm running a hd-install of 2003-06-06.

Go into KDE Control Center / Sound System/

Select "Start aRts Sound Server on KDE Startup"

    Hopefully this should help.

You may need to start xmms like this (from cli):

    "artsdsp xmms"

    Hope that helps

    Same thing happens in 3.3

I am running into the same thing on 3.3. 64kbps play at roughly double speed.

I was able to get this working when I switch sound device from OSS to of the others in the mmx prefs.
