my modem is 'busy' i have tried 3 different modems and all the time i got the same error, anyone know any solutions. i am accessing the modem via serial port. i have tried both PnP and non-PnP modems

i used to get that.
my solution was to use the setserial command.

setserial /dev/modem uart 16550a irq 9 port 0xe00

or whatever your particular parameters are. this might help...
