Knopteron?

Does anyone know if people, Klaus possibly included, have given any thought to an Athlon 64/Opteron-optimized version of Knoppix? Does anyone know where Debian is at as regards this 64-bit stuff? Just wondering... I'm planning on an Athlon 64 system as my next major purchase and I'd like to run at least a semi-optimized Linux on it.
