    Modules.conf more recent the modules.dep

    Hi.

I recently remastered, and the only thing I did was 'apt-get upgrade'

Now, when I boot my version of knoppix, I get a bunch of "/etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/modules.dep" errors.

I tried to touch /etc/modules /lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/modules.dep, but after recompressing everything, I get the same errors.

Anyone know what I need to do to fix this???

    Ambrose,

This happened to me. I don't know if it has anything to do with where you remaster, but I remastered on my Gentoo desktop, where I have a 2.4.21 kernel, so I had a couple of problems with depmod, etc. I don't know if that would have made much of a difference if you had remastered under Knoppix, though.

Try out this script though. It should fix up the problems. I'd recommend running under Knoppix, just in case.

    Hrm, script looks good..

I've been doing most of that by hand, but that has brought up some good things to remember.

I couldn't get that script to run, but I looked at it and went line by line doing the things I thought I needed. : is not a valid interpreter is the error I got

This fixed the problem I had (same as in the original post) and reduced my iso size a little.
