LG CD-rewriter

Knoppix doesn't detect my cd-writer LG CD-RW CED-8042B. Not at all.
Not even as a normal cd-rom drive. What can be wrong here?
It's working fine under win98se.
Could it be a problem to have a cd-rom drive and a cd-rw drive?

I'm a brand new Linux user and I like it. Knoppix is winning souls.

See if your /etc/lilo.conf has the append line. Otherwise there is a cdr howto manual soewhere online. Just change the line, save the file, and at the prompt type "lilo" as su. Also, xcdroast worked for me, run it in su mode to setup.
