This time works fine with 64 bits. I'll try tomorrow with 32 bits and I'll post again.

    Hello,
I confirm that both the 32 and the 64 bits Linux kernel versions are working as expected this time.
    Again, thank you Klaus !
    Cheers,
    Gilles

I was going to post the same but... it's true.
The only problem I found until now is when you try to uninstall some program, it gives an error with apt.

Fix broken apt-synaptic in Knoppix 8.6.1: APT::Default-Release "stable" ==> "buster"

    Hello,
The package manager synaptic in Knoppix 8.6 and 8.6.1 seems to be broken with the following error:
E: The value 'stable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sources. E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
Replacing "stable" by "buster" (which is the Debian distro of Knoppix 8.6.1, cf below) in the second line of the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00knoppix file seems to fix it.
    APT::Default-Release "stable"; ==> APT::Default-Release "buster";
    Best Regards,
    Gilles

    # lsb_release -a
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID: Debian
    Description: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
    Release: 10
    Codename: buster

    Thanks Klaus,

I too can confirm the 32-bit version now works and I can put my laptop to standby and resume from it.

    Hello
It seems possible to fix "synaptic" by only "updating"?I

It was my way . I just see your post.

I profite to to send HERE other observations about V8.6.1 without begining
    another thread. ..I am desolated

    KNOPPIX_v8.6.1 "FEEDBACK "
These observations are relative to my OLD laptop

    Hi

1-Boots Without the Cursor... Not very important
But with a cursor it may be useful to go backstep
    without deleting characters!

2- Does not generally accept directly my external
    screen monitor.
Cheatcodes are necessary and useful (their role!)
    Not very important.

3- At "shutdown" the screen monitor switch "off" but not the
laptop for it's own. Manual intervention is necessary

4- Knonqueror and Chromium do not work in v8.6.1 (for me).
    BUT in v8.6.0:
    Konqueror worked...Not Firefox nor Chromium.

5- With Firefox (in V8.6.1) it is sometimes very
difficult to register or open files on some sites!

6- The defaults of LibreOffice has a too wide screen monitor

7- To get Synaptic it is necessary to update fist.

8- The same for gedebi...a bit difficult to get.

9- To get printers installation via Firefox it is
    necessary to disable "noscript"

10- Thunderbird does not accept some IMAP_mail_Box

11- No means for VIRTUALIZATION ??

12- It is necessary to disable much options of the
screensaver for working comfortably in much
    versions of KNOPPIX

13- How to make "Okular" the default option ?

14- It may be useful to get te language layout
    independently "online"...without "ReBooting"
Different users may need different languages
    after the boot.
Some earlier versins of KNOPPIX offered this option
