bump?
Hi there I am running this script
but it comes up with nothing....Code:for i in /dev/sd? /dev/disk?; do test FATX = $(dd if=$i bs=4 count=1 2> /dev/null) 2> /dev/null && echo $i done
Now I KNOW that there is a UBS FATX 8mb card pluged in so I am wondering if Knoppix Supports Fatx.
Please let me know ASAP if knoppix does or does not support FATX .
please..
Go Here for the reason why I am doing this....
Cheers

bump?
Uhm FATX is the X-Box FAT partition (of Flash cards)?
You can check if FATX is in the 'vanilla' kernel. Knopper uses the standard kernel sources (with only the XFS patch).
A recursive grep in my Linux kernel source directory gave me the answer: no FATX support in kernel (only found the string in kernel images, not the source file).
The X-Box Linux project kernel patches does not meet the Linus standrard yet. It's on their roadmap.
Just bumpibf this old topic to ask again, wether FATX will ever be put on to knoppix, or is there a way to add this feature manualy once the HDD install has been done...
Or for that fact any distro that supports FATX that is easy to install and set up .....
The only distro that i can think of that might achieve what you are trying to do is dyne:bolic (http://www.dynebolic.org/). It is a LiveCD compiled with FATX support built in and is designed to boot off the computer or XBOX. I have never actually used it, but this might do the trick.
Edit: there is also a mini-distro called xLinux that is used to hotswap your XBOX HDD into your computer and exchange files. This might also be of some use, but if I remember correctly it was slightly difficult to obtain. You might try browsing around http://www.xbox-scene.com
Seen somewhere (I can't remember where):
"Rather than spend ages compiling a custom kernel with fatx support, it's MUCH easier simply to boot Xebian on your PC (The iso is available from
xbox-linux.org) and can be used without the need to install."
