lilo Fatal:create Read-only file system dual boot
Hi there
Seeing knoppix, tempted me to install it on my HD.
After reading alot on this site, thehowto and the new v3.3, i tryed to install it, using the new knoppix-installer (the knoppix way)..
The install works fine, and in the end i'm prombted to insert a floppy, i guess it is for boot.
anyway it is LILO, that is my problem.
After configuration of lilo.conf i try to run lilo(right after install, no reboot) but i get an error:
Fatal: create /boot/map~:Read-only file system
Then i tryed to see if my bios have some kind of protection for MBR, but it has no such thing
i have tryed to install knoppix 5 times, both with lilo for MBR or root partition and the same/similar error occurs.
And i can't boot from either floppy or HD
I guess it has something to do with permissions, but what should i do
comp. data
hda1 -> winXP
hdc1 -> where knoppix is intalled

Are you telling us that after knoppix-installer finishes you then edit /etc/lilo.conf and re-run lilo? If so that would not be a good idea. LiLo should be configured automatically from the installer. You shouldn't need to edit /etc/lilo.conf at all. LiLo is usually very good about setting up multiple drives. If I'm way off base here then please do explain.

hmm, that sounds mystirius. And for that reason i've made some snapshots of the installation, it can be found here

Take a look at picture 015.png, and take a good look at the console in the botom. There it says that i should configure lilo...
Btw, one of my friens told my that it maybe has something to do with read write permissions ?
