KDE "Initializing System Services"

I have 3.3 installed on a Latitude laptop. When KDE begins "Initializating System Services" ( you know the little wrench on the initialization screen). Is there anyway to see what is going on in a terminal? I did an apt-get upgrade and now it takes about a minute to initialize.

did you get this working? im having the same problem. it holds at the initializing system services and if i click or anything it goes away then is just a blank screen and doesnt do anything.
