Need to modify post-install initrd (Fabian, can you help?)
After getting the appropriate modules (from Mandrake 9.2) for my Promise SATA150TX4, KNOPPIX now recognizes my Raptor hard drive. At the CD's boot prompt, I use:
knoppix modules-disk
After loading the three required module files from floppy, the Raptor is detected and I can access its partitions.
I've run the included installer scripts and everything seemed to complete without any problems. Unfortunately, I cannot boot the HD installation because the modules files needed to recognize the hard drive weren't added to the initrd.
How can I modify the post-install initrd to add the necessary module files? Per this thread, can someone like Fabian help?
**KEEP IN MIND, if I have to recreate the entire initrd, what modules are already included so I don't forget to keep them in the initrd?
Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to do something similar - install knoppix to a external 1394 HDD that I access via a 1394 PC Card.
When I last tried this (3.2 from about six months ago), I was able to install knoppix to the HDD OK, but then I wasn't able to mount the root on the 1394 drive. I played around with pcinitrd (the idea being to boot from CD/floppy, mount a temp root FS in the initrd, load pc card and all 1394 modules, mount the 1394 drive, then 'pivot' the root from the initrd to the 1394 drive), but did not succeed :( Unfortunately the pcinitrd howto/documentation does that it is an advanced technique and I'm just not experienced enough...

I'm hoping a simple command would take care of this "problem." I've just been too lazy/busy to e-mail Fabian directly, as I've noticed the PMs aren't working.

Just a bump. I have yet to get an e-mail response from Fabian (probably been at least a week now ).

Thanks for the bump!
I've moved on to the 2.6 kernel which gives me all the support I need at the moment. Since the driver for my SATA controller is built into 2.6, I no longer need to mess with initrd. Unfrotunately, I've moved to Gentoo (where I can do an install directly with 2.6) until I can get a flavor of KNOPPIX that uses 2.6 from the very start.
