    Interlaced mode

    Hello.

My graphics card can do 1024x768 (in 32bbp or other bbp), but only in interlaced mode, with a vsync of 87hz.

So I guess i need to add 'interlace' somewhere in XFree's configuration file, and also change the vsync.

Any way to specify that at boot time?
Also, any way to force Knoppix's boot console to use that mode too? (since apparently it defaults to 1024x768 but uses an incorrect refresh rate, thus is totally unreadable)

What you are describing is unlikely. Almost any modern card that supports interlace supports progressive scan too. What is your graphics card? be as specific as possible.

It may be your monitor that's at fault, though I doubt it. Please specify the brand and model of that, as well.

My bad, wasn't clear enough, sorry...

My (old) graphics card is an ATI@PLAY, 4MB chipset, using mach64 chip, i think. It supports 1024x768 32bbp.

But the monitor itself can only do 1024x768 in interlaced mode. The horizontal refresh rate i got under Windows is: 87 hz interlaced.

So Knoppix's autodetect correctly sees the card, but uses it in 1024x768 with an invalid refresh rate for the monitor (can't tell which), thus the console / XWindow is totally unreadable (everything is duplicated 4 times...)

Using fb800x600 works, of course, but i'd rather have 1024 since i CAN do it...

    Thanks in advance.

Again, I ask: what is the monitor? (brand & model)

I have an old ATI Rage with 4mb and monitor on a machine here try at the boot: prompt knoppix noddc xmodule=ati xvrefresh=60 screen=1024x768 that's was the only way I could ever get the higher resolution.
