stonent: I aldready tried "upgrading" Knoppix and it didn't work like I'd hoped.
Isn't there an "apt-get update" way of upgrading Knoppix?
That's why I posted the code I used and the method I did it by. I do download each new release and could post the same here (or elsewhere) after each new release (as can anyone else who can download and boot it and the prior version). I was slightly worried about adding a big comment like this into the forum but thought it was probably worth it. I think it would be far better though if this information, along with a list of any changes which this doesn't reflect (I guess from my limited knowledge of the KNOPPIX build process that not everything comes out of .deb packages), was uploaded into the ftp site so people could see whether there is anything which interests them in the new release (which could be a few days after the prior release).Originally Posted by aay

I guess the answer is "no" but I was wondering if knoppix had apm in it yet........in other words if when you shut off knoppix if it will shut off your machine too
Steve
This is my first time with knoppix, so I downloaded the ISO (14-11-2003). MD5 seems to match, and the file size is 732,553,216.
However, if I open Nero to burn the image, it complains that the image size is too large to fit the CD! I am using normal 80 minute CDR. What am I missing? I tried setting disk at once and close disk (which is usually what the problem is) but it didn't help. I realize that this might be already explained somewhere but the only burning info I found was in german which I don't speak.
I also tried Nero Burning ROM 6 and it returned the same error. So now I use BlindWrite Download it at http://www.blindwrite.com
Nero Overburn Patch:

This solves the image too large problem.
This is getting waaaaay off-topic. Your issue with burning a cd is *most likely* because you are using 650M media instead of 700M media. This thread should *IMHO* follow issues specific to this release...
I don't know how far off topic it is but it definitely should have been searched for Nero has problems burning the Knoppix ISO's on 700mb CD-R and there have been many posts on the subject along with the patch suggested above in the threads.Originally Posted by pau1knopp
About your problem with nero, Did you enable over Burn ?
You can do this by
(Nero 6)
File->Preferences -> Expert features
select enable overburn
i usually use daemon tools ( http://www.daemon-tools.cc/portal/index.php ) to mount the image, and then perform a disc copy with any program (i.e. nero express will do, as well as regular nero)
cheers
btw, i tried it today, and plugged in a usb pen drive, and it didn't recognize it. i'm sure it did in previous versions....
