boot knoppix from scsi cdrom
I'm running Redhat 7.1 (seawolf) on a PC.
Lilo is installed on the primary scsi device (hard disk) Id :0
I have a bootable CDROM with Knoppix 3.3 which is working well on every system i tested it.
The cdrom device is scsi with the Id = 2 and works fine.
In the mother bios setup the order for devices bootable is : floppy next scsi card
In the scsi card setup i set the cdrom bootable and the LUN to 0.
When i boot the system detect that the cdrom is bootable and propose me the section to boot (by default) : 0
After it is more confuse, i obtain the lilo menu without the knoppix image i want to boot. So i tried to insert in the lilo.conf the image to boot but without success (the check configuration is KO).
Could you explain me the best way to boot knoppix 3.3 from a scsi cdrom with Lilo installed on a redhat 7.1 system ? Is it possible anyway ?
Grazie mille !

If you're just trying to boot from cdrom, you shouldn't touch your existing lilo installation. At all. The BIOS is all you may have to adjust. Did you ever boot from any other bootable cd on that system? Maybe the unit itself is too old for that, or something?

The PC is recent : 3 months.
Any other ideas ?

Please see my comments in a parallel thread. Knoppix appears to lack one vital install component for scsi CDRom booting. If you try the SuSE Live 8.2 you will see the essential step to search for the Linux image is included and it runs just fine.
