    kodak dx3500 with docking station

Tried to get my kodak dx3500 with docking station using the control panel. The docking station is a thing the camera sits in for recharging and connects to the computer. In windoze you can press one button for recharging your batteries and getting your pictures.

    I got an error message:

I select my camera and checked it but got bad parameters.Unable to initialize camera. Check your port settings and camera connectivity and try again

Anybody else have sucess with this?

Has anybody used the Kodak software with wine?

I am trying to follow along with this site.

    http://jace.seacrow.com/tech/linux/usbcam

    This is my fstab:
    # /etc/fstab: filesystem table.
    #
    # filesystem mountpoint type options dump pass
    /dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1

    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    /dev/fd0 /floppy vfat defaults,user,auto,showexec,umask=000 0 0
    /dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto,umask=000 0 0
    /dev/cdrom1 /cdrom1 iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto,umask=000 0 0
    /dev/dvd /dvd iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto,umask=000 0 0
    /dev/cdaudio /cdaudio iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto,umask=000 0 0
    # Added by KNOPPIX
    /dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1 vfat noauto,users,exec,umask=000 0 0
    # Added by KNOPPIX
    /dev/hda6 none swap defaults 0 0
    usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults 0 0

    Itried this and got:

    root@1[pjharper]# mount /proc/bus/usb
[mntent]: warning: no final newline at the end of /etc/fstab
    root@1[pjharper]#

    What am I doing wrong?

My fstab has the line for usb as:
    none /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults 0 0

And I think you should press <enter> at the end of a new line.

    solved the newline problem.

    Here is the result:

The camera is also detected in usbview. Says it is on 0.

Have you tried detecting your camera with gtkam?
    K-menu -> Multimedia -> Viewers -> Gtkam

This issue seems to come up a lot. For me it works fine as long as I use "sudo gtkam". That doesn't seem to work for everyone though. Try it though...use "sudo gtkam" then click Camera -> Add Camera in the gtkam menu. Then click on the Detect button. It should work fine.

    Kodak DX3500 usb:

As you can see the Camera is there. I think in gphoto2 autodetect there should be a number by usb?

    Thanks for replies so far.

Been a while since I have been playing with this. Thanks to
http://new2unix.no-ip.com/Linux-less...tal-camera.txt I can now get pictures from my camera in ghoto2 as root by typing gphoto2 -P

I can see the pictures and manipulate them with the Gimp.

gtkam doesn't seem to work in root or as a normal user.

I ran gphoto2 as a normal user and got this debugging output

    pjharper@reno:~$ env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug -P
