Disk check gives root access!

Greetings,
After installing Knoppix onto the hard drive, when the computer crashes, it automatically does a disk check (ext3 FS) and after it's done, it gives root access without asking for a password. It is quite worriesome, because the computer is in a semi-public place.

Has anyone run into the same problem?

Any help is much appreciated.
