installing knoppix 3.1
i have scoued the internet looking for a howto, to do, this task but It just comes up with a german message and reboots, (when I type in knx-hdinstall) any suggestions

Try mv .kde .kde.old then when you login again the kpersonalizer will run and give you the opportunity to select you language and recreate the default settings or you can go to the Control Center and then into the Regional settings and change the language (in german it is Lange & Sprachun or something like that) you will want to change the keyboard layout as well.

you've got it all backwads I want to install it on a hard drive Im currently booting up from a cd, though i did try what you said and it still comes up with the same message, in german, and then shows a path to a file
(the cd was purchased with a magazine and not a burned ISO file)

Ah! At the boot: prompt knoppix lang=us should give you English and good thing you have already tried it because IIRC you will have to do it again once you have installed with that version and boot from the HD the changes should work this time though.
