I downloaded your new version of media linux and booted it up but was unable to use my Pinnacle DC10 capture card as a TV tuner. Off the programs I tried, xawtv and some other one, neither could find the device. Any idea on how to get it to recognize my card?

Greetings,
Thank you for this wonderful collection of
programs.
I know you squeezed every bit of unneeded
fat out of tools not needed for demonstration
and for the multimedia user.
However, the compiler gcc is really needed
to add programs and plug in’s. I tried to run a
script to install and update mplayer -- but gcc
was lacking. The other development tools including
expect are good.
Best Wishes,

Hi first betatester! ;-)
First of all thanks for downloading Medialinux.
Answers:
1) Go please to http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/driver-zoran/
for the latest news on this Zoran based cards.
No automagically configuration, for the moment sorry!
Try to du "sudo su" to become root
and then with "modconf" try to load the drivers you need.
Especially Zoran and Zrxxxxx are good for it.
Still I couldn't succeed in making it work without recompiling the kernel.
Only once it worked loading all the modules I could find in modconf listed in the FAQ in my card (DC10+) model.
2) Please forgive us for this, gcc is in next version (3.3).
Wich packages do you need exactly to make this script work?
Is it taken from Kano's scripts?
Thanks for any other feedback you will give us.

Hello,
Yes, kano's scripts would be a good place to start.
If they work on your new distribution that would
be nice. As far as I can see, all you need to do is
add gcc.
I am also interested in a new KNOPPIX project at
http://klik.berlios.de
which makes adding simple programs and updates
to an running KNOPPIX system. Perhaps a demonstration
of how one click could load new plug ins, settings,
or utilities would be of interest to you.
Best Wishes
