Notebook hangs during boot

When i'm booting the knoppix cd on my toshiba tecra 9000, during the boot the notebook will hang. i can see only the pinguin and nothing happened. I tried it with the options failsafe, expert, noscsi, nodma .....
When i use failsafe during the boot the system stopped at the entry where it lists the existing hdd's.

Any ideas?

I've just been trying Knoppix on a Toshiba Tecra 8000 and it works fine (well it will once I learn how to connect to the network but that's another story) when used standalone, but hangs when docked. Keyboard and mouse seem ok, but the Sony Trinitron Multiscan E200 screen goes into power save mode and all activity ceases.
Gets past the point you mention, but hangs when it tries to start the GUI interface.
Doesn't help, but may give the gurus more info to chew on.
