Weird Keyboard Problem..
I have this weird problem with my keyboard... When i hold "Ctrl", i can't press Space! This is really giving me problems as i depend pretty much on this combination for the programs i use.. eg. Photoshop, 3dsmax. More importantly, i can't do efficient crouch jumps in FPS games anymore, lol.
This occured only recently.. Does installing of language packs affect the settings in any way? I recently installed a Japanese language pack and that was the most significant change i've done so far.. Any kind knowledgeable soul know the cause of the problem and how do i go about fixing it? Thanks in advance!

HI Me|2c,
I don't know the specific answer as to why
you keyboard has changed. I have been
remapping speceal keys to my number pad
so here are a few command to look at.
It is helpful when asking a question to give a
full pertinent list of what you are using. I will
assume KDE KNOPPIX from the live CD or
installed to Hard Drive, fairly recent version
of KNOPPIX 3.3.
1) xmodmap
This will show what your control key is conected to.
2) xmodmap -pke
This will show what the space bar keycode 65
has assigned to it. It should have just one word
after it space.
3) Run xev
This will show what event is triggered when you hit
SpaceBar or Control-SpaceBar
Read
man xmodemap
to change the key map with a commands.
Best Wishes

Hello paradocs, thank you so much for the helpful post but is there anyway to do all that you've just said in Windows XP? Or is it only possible in Knoppix?

Seems like you are asking for win* support in a Knoppix forum, why ?? I'm sure you'd have better luck somewhere where win* issues are the topic.

Sorry i guess i mixed up, but i saw another guy posting about his windows prob in "General Support" so i figured i'll try my luck posting in this off-topic forum. I realise this is a Knoppix forum but i figured there'd be some experts around so i tried my luck.. I've been scouring around Google to no avail.
Sorry for the irrelevant post, no harm meant, i was just sorta getting desperate.

Well, this is the lounge section described as "General Chit-Chat, Off-topic stuff, anything goes" so I guess you aren't breaking any rules when posting here but I really think some forum focusing on windows would be more effective. A lot of the people around here don't use M$ stuff anymore so while they may appear to know a lot about Knoppix the same might not necessarily apply to windows. About the the guys posting windows questions under "General Support":
IMO that is just rude (unless it relates to Knoppix somehow) One solution to your problem we could offer is switch to Knoppix, once you get the hang of it you will never want to go back...

Greetings Me|2c
Thanks windos_no_thanks
The inside working of your operating system
is colsed. The beauty of open source is
there is a lot of help and configuring that even
the casual user can employ.
So we certaily hope you will consider linux
and open source in the future!
