I also have the realtek 8169 gigabit ethernet chip on my gigabyte ga700 something or other pro2 mobo and am having trouble getting a connection to my lan with knoppix 3.4
Hello, I am new in this forum, but since new Network Cards are used by new computer, and supported by other linux kernel why not add support for these in Knoppix ? In my case, I am especially interested into the Realtek 8169 Gigabit adapter. Thanks, Gilles

I have 8169s and 5700s in the network I am trying to set up for remote boot, and neither is an option in the terminal server setup.

further to my previous post - by connecting my PC directly to my ADSL Router/modem (bypassing the ethernet switch and LAN) I can connect immediately to the net. The Realtek 8168 onboard chip works OK,
Problem is DHCP Broadcast timing out when connected to LAN
