How do I get Knoppix to recognize/mount a SATA drive?

My only drive is a Seagate Barracuda 80 Gb SATA drive.

Knoppix 3.3 does not even recognize or mount it on boot.

Motherboard: Giga-Byte K8NNXP with Silicon Image SATA/Raid chipset

I'm not aware of any 2.4 kernel in KNOPPIX that will detect and use SATA. I know the driver for my Promise SATA controller can be built into a 2.6 kernel, but it seems it's been left out thus far.
