smart boot manager problem on windows

i wanted to install a knoppix distro on a ancient laptop. it uses a pcmia cdrom that the bios cant recognize so i decided to use smart boot manerger on a floppy. to get it on a floppy i had to use my nice computer with online connection. i downloaded smart boot manager as a ms dos executable. when i try to open the program via ms dos to put it on a floppy drive the command prompt flashes on the screen and dissapears. i dont know a thing about dos please help.

It's very simple. Download sbminst.exe to the directory of your choice. Open up a DOS prompt. Use cd to get to the directory where you saved sbminst.exe. Like so....

    Save sbminst.exe to?
    c:

    Open DOS prompt

    cd c
    smbinst.exe

It will tell you which parameters to use. Presumably you would use the first floppy drive so:

    sbminst.exe -d 0
