    Hi Barlow.

Knoppix wouldnt boot. I had to use a cheat code to get it to work properly. I will try the iwconfig and post my findings then.

You may want to check their website:

    http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/
Level - I tried what you suggested and I get
    Code:
    lo - no private ioctls
    eth0 - no private ioctls
    eth1 - no private ioctls
... so I presume you are correct. When I load up Airsnort, it simply quits when I select eth0 and other (for the type of card) seeing as wlan-ng and host ap / orinoco and the only other ones listed (which give me the monitopr mode error msg).

Barlow - to get it working on my machine I typed
    Code:
    knoppix acpi=off

I might be off-topic with the recent replies, but just in case somebody can't get the Centrino Pro2100 wireless network card to work under Knoppix / Linux with Intel's official Linux driver, you might wanna try the Ndiswrapper.

It's been working out quite well for me so far and this way it's even supporting the Ad-hoc network feature yet. Don't know what the side effects are though for using a windows DLL on a Linux system...

Knoppix seems to be able to use mine fine however I am still scratching my head over the *monitor mode* whilst trying to use Airsnort. I looked at the Centrino 2100 driver support pages on Sourceforge but I could not see anything about this.

If anyone at all has had success with getting Airsnort to work with the Centrino 2100, it'd be great to hear from you.

    Centrino Wireless works for me!

    Hi:

Following Dan's advice from this thread I finally got my wireless to work!

I have a Sony VAIO Z1 laptop with the intelo pro 2100 wireless card. This is the first Linux Distro (knoppix 3.4) that has worked with my wireless.

The only issue is that I have to run the wavenan configuration utility and netcardconfig each time I boot. Once I've run those I'm up and running.

I'm a Lunux noob and this has me very excited!

    Thanks to all

    Bob

    Hmmmmm...
is there some kind of problem with WEP keyed networks? I had only the opportunity to connect to such a network because I do not own an Access Point.

I own a BENQ Joybook 5000.G02 that has exactly the same Centrino WLAN card.

with the 2.4 Kernal it is recognized and I can set it up. I did exactly as described in this and some other threads but the signal was still 0.
The signal quality with Windows was very high!

There has to be some kind of tool with which I can scan for APs but I didnt find one. (that doesnt mean much cause I am sometimes not able to find my wallet while it rests in my own hand )
That way I could find out if the card works or not...

Anyone has any tips to check that this way or another?

    Thanks in advance!
