Actually, support for the 2.4 kernel was dropped in Knoppix 3.8;
the 2.4 kernel image, kernel modules and initrd are no longer included on the CDROM.
(btw. This also means creating boot floppies is no longer supported due to size constraints.)
If you really need to use the 2.4 kernel, use an older Knoppix version.
The 2.4 kernel was the default in 3.7 (2.6 was an option available with the cheat code knoppix26). 3.7 is still available on the mirrors and by Bittorrent, I would strongly suggest using Bittorrent, there are plenty of seeders feeding it and Bittorrent gives a much more reliable download than the mirrors. If you ignore this advice then download the md5 files also and check the md5 sum of the iso before burning it. If you can't be bothered to do this then you shouldn't be running Linux.Originally Posted by anwaru
