    Question Teamviewer7-Wrong architecture?

On a Knoppix 7.0.2 USB Installation, which I booted in knoppix64 mode
    knoppix@Microknoppix:~$ uname -ar
    Linux Microknoppix 3.3.7-64 #40 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 22 08:47:38 CEST 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    knoppix@Microknoppix:~$
I try to add the Teamviewer_linux_x64.deb package and I get the message about 'wrong architecture'. I wonder if something went wrong during the installation or if I have a faulty .iso download or a bad burned DVD. What is most likely? So far all other Synaptic activities worked flawless.

BTW: the 32bit version of teamviewer was installed correctly!

Would /KNOPPIX/var/log/dmesg help for tracking the issue?

Knoppix is, basically, a 32 bits system, even if you can make it kind of hybrid by running with 64-bits kernel. Pure 64-bits needs rebuild - I know at least one way, for I produced a 64-bits version of Knoppix 6.4.4 - is actually writing from that now. Quite a bit of work, and quite a few quirks, in my experience.

Personally, I would like it if you opened it again.. Hybrid is not hybrid is not hybrid - in principle, it may be possible to get any 64-bits application to run under standard Knoppix, and it is of considerable interest to find out more about exactly what is needed.

Would you care to try out klaus2008's recipe http://knoppix.net/forum/threads/298...notes-comments - it should install compatibility libs and 64-bits-"friendly" 32-bits versions. Maybe try to force a 64-bits install, and see where things eventually crash?

My main reason for going pure 64-bits again now, working out from 7.0.2, is just to avoid running into 32/64 problems in daily use. If they can be circumvented/overcome, it might be better to stay with standard Knoppix. While remastering is something of a breeze, and modification of minirt.gz (to use squashfs, for example) is also a rather rewarding task, creating a pure 64-bits version with the currently easily available tools and a modest level of expertise is most likely not. And one of the starting points, Debian 6.05, was a huge disappointment to me.
