    saving configurations..new to linux

    Hi all.............

I take it that for my email to work each time i boot linux from cd and not have to reregister my account i need to save my configuration, i also take it that this is the same for browser history, printers, scannerscameras etc.

I have read that this confige file can be saved to something called a "floppy disk"........

Can this be saved too cdrw if the disc is set up to be used as a floppy, ie it will add files as required.

And am right in thinking that this disk needs to be set up to boot before the main linux cd.

I thank you in advance for any guidance.

Two useful additions to Kanotix / Knoppix are "Save configuratiom" and "Configure Persistent Home". The best way of setting these are on a USB Pen Drive. Say, 256MB Pen Drive with, say, a 200 MB Persistent Home. Some additional software can be stored in the Persistent Home directory using Klik from Konqueror.
