    # copy to r/w filesystem
    cp initrd2x.gz ~

    # unpack
    gunzip initrd2x.gz

    # mount
    mount initrd2x.gz /mnt/test -o loop

    # in konsole (!!! this is important since kwrite breaks it !!!)
    mcedit /mnt/test/linuxrc

    # save and quit

    # unmount
    umount /mnt/test

    # repack
    cd ~
    gzip -9 initrd9x
    (say "yes" to overwrite)

    # use the newly created initrd9x.gz in lilo/grub
    # (you don't need to do a hd-install of Knoppix for that)

Thanks but I know those steps

What I wanted was a "howto" on the linuxrc file itself. Perhaps as an example the one used in knoppix?
