That looks like it is not getting the refresh rate correct try using knoppix screen=1600x1200 xvrefresh=60 and you may want to add vga=normal to the end of the line as well.Originally Posted by booty
I have a dell 5150 with a uxga screen (1600x1200) and a 64MB DDR NVIDIAŽ GeForce? FX Go5200 AGP 4x Graphics card.
If don't use any cheat codes then it loads as standard XGA (1024x76 and that is as high as it will let me configure in kde.
If I do use the cheat code screen=1600x1200 the screen is unviewable once xwindows launches. I think some of you know the screen I'm talking about a bunch of lines, everything is screwed up, there are 5 instances of the mouse, generally just scary sight to behold!
So please advise me on my next steps

Stephen thanks for the quick reply, and I though for sure that would fix it when I read it! It unfortunately does the same thing even with xvrefresh=60. When I add vga=normal it is even worse as the screen is not only all crazy messed up, but it is all RGB in big blocks.
So round two what is the next suggestion? Anybody?
thanks for all of the great help,

At linux-laptops http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/
I found this link:
http://www.lexip.ch/files/inspiron5150.html#2
The link you gave me deals with the other card that 5150's have an ATI card instead of an nvidia. There was another linux tut on there with my card, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Will I need to remaster knoppix to get my screen resolution working or is there an internal fix I can use?
I didn't remaster any knoppix myself, nor do I use any of these cards - I just know this laptop-page.
Perhaps someone else may introduce you.
Any other helpful suggestions? Anybody?
