Use a later version of the driver. 2.9+
Hi, here's the situation: I did get my ALI 5459 SmartLink PCI561 (a.k.a. Netodragon) to work in my knx-hdinstall'd (v3.2) after compiling the modules (v2.7.10) and modprob'd them but when I load ALSA sound drivers & make KPPP to dial to my ISP, the system hangs up to the point of no response at all.
Is there an issue with winmodems and ALSA? Because modem seems to work fine without ALSA loaded.

I've tried that already with the same results. The problem seems to appear no matter the alsa modules are loaded or not. Compilation goes ok, insmod too, then I start kppp and dial my ISP's number, and then while dialing the system freezes absolutely.
A possible solution might be trying with the 2.6 kernel wich includes support for this modem;

i've solved the last one: bad symlink in /usr/include/asm . Now it points to
/usr/include/asm ------- /usr/src/linux/include/asm-i386 hehehe, my bad!
Nevermind what i've said above, the problem was the motherboard PCI timing setings...solved changing "PCI Delay transaction" to "enabled" in CMOS setup utility.
By the way i have got the -= OFICIAL NETODRAGON =- driver (based on SmartLink but version 2.9.10) directly from the manufacturer of my motherboard so thanks Jetway!!
