booting-problem

hi,

for some days i have a problem booting my installed knoppix
normaly autologin is on and knoppix logs me on with my userid
but now it goes to the log in screen
and if i insert my password
it trys to connect
but then at the top of the screen there appeares some green strips
and then the login screen reappeare

what´s wrong there?
how can i fix it??

try on boot (lilo)
telinit 1
and login as root
then init 3
and login as user
start Xserver (startx ou startkde ....)

i think i know now what i made wrong:
i made an apt-get upgrade short time before
and on this problem i get the answer that this could destroy my boot
damn
i must reinstall knoppix

but thx for answering
and i tested boot with 2 and login and start or init 5 but although the same
