knoppix is brilliant as a concept - I now want to use it for something real - as a simple home-based backup server for various websites.
I want to use rsync as the main tool for this and the good news is that it is included in knoppix in its server mode. But I want the backups to be initiated by the remote servers using cron. Consequently I need to set up rsync in server mode and that means that I need to create a conf file rsyncd.conf in /etc but this is on the CD! For simlicity, what i would like to do is have all the necessary shell scripts to initiate the use of rsync and the config script on the boot floppy but how can I map these so that they appear in /etc ???
This issue must affect other software to so what is the recomended approach?
