How to boot into ALSA on v3.4?

I have knoppix 3.4, which utilizes the OSS sound drivers by default.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that v3.4 has the ALSA sound libraries installed, and the ALSA drivers can be used instead of OSS, by utilizing a bootup cheatcode?

BTW, my version was painstakingly customized to a compact flash card, so updating to the latest knoppix is not an option for me right now.
