You cannot add new packages without installing to the Hard Drive almost everything is read only when using the CD.
Kpackage fails to update update
when I use the command line apt-get update
It seems to go through but I get the following errors
w: Not using locking for read only lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock
e: Unable to write to /var/cache/apt/
e: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened
I am running off the CD with a persistant home directory on my HD
I am a relative newbie so any help is appreciated
