    "No supported Network Cards Found"

I just downloaded and burned Knoppix 3.2. I've never used Linux before (except for CygWin for my Comp Sci class).

I'm trying to connect to my home network/internet on Knoppix without success. The netcardconfig and it's graphical counterpart both give me the message that "No Supported Network Cards found." I'd appreciate any help/advise on how to get it working, without the internet using an alternate OS looses interest rather quickly.

My computer's specs are below, thanks.

    Dell Dimension 4100
Pentium 3 933 mHz with 384 MB RAM
NVidia Geforce 2 MX 32 MB Video Card
Dual boot with Windows XP and Windows Me (on two seperate HDs)
HomeClick/ 3Com Phoneline Networking Card (networked to my other computer running Win 98 SE connnected to the DSL modem)

First thing you gotta do is find out what's the hardware inside your pc.

With this pc there's a onboard LAN (network) present.

Before asking any question ,always give this info in your questions.

If you don't know this you can go to the constructors site (http://www.dell.com) and search more about your computer, you can use
a search site like google or you can open your pc and look what inside.

A hint with Dell computers manipulating the ACPI in the BIOS.

Watch it ! Before doiing such stuff ,make sure you got a another computer near you with internet connection ,so you still can search info when the shit hits the fence .

So what is the onboard chip used for your LAN ?

If you look at the last line of my original post, I did list my network card. The Dell Dimension 4100 does not come with an onboard Network Card of any kind. I did buy the computer with the 3COM Home Phoneline Network Card (which comes with Microsoft's HomeClick Networking software for Win 98 SE/Me). It works under Win XP without problems as well using automatically configured drivers.

I've noticed on a few other posts where users have had similar problems that they were asked to post the output of certain Linux commands, so I've gotten the output from those commands and included it below. As Zoinks said earlier, there seem to be a large number of new users to these boards that experience these networking problems, yet there doesn't seem to be many answers or any documentation/FAQs on this problem around.
