knoppix boot errors - blank screen turning on/off

when i boot knoppix, press enter, then space, it lists progress of autodetection with errors saying:

cloop: error -5 uncompressing ....

then it goes to a blank screen and clicks like it does when you turn it on and off
also, i'm using an AMD processor if that matters

any help?

The "cloop" errors usually mean the CD is defective. You might want to check the integrity of the CD by typing:

knoppix testcd

at the boot prompt.

The monitor weirdness once the graphical interface comes up is probably a mismatch between the video settings in knoppix and those for the monitor. Once the machine is booted, you can toggle between the available video modes with CTRL-ALT-(plus or minus key on keypad). Or, you can use another boot parameter ("cheat code"), something like this:

knoppix screen=800x600
