After HD install, starts with Xfce, not KDE

*SIGH* -the sound of the newbie!

The following problem occurs with either the Knoppix 4.02 OR 5.0 DVD:

After installing to HDD using the knoppix-installer and choosing Beginner, (and after selecting the first Grub default entry) the system starts up with the Xfce desktop. I expected the Knoppix KDE desktop, or rather I expected it to act the same as booting from the DVD itself.

Am I unclear on the install options or is there something I could edit?

BTW, it also seems that the system is still read-only. I have a 500MB swap, a 17GB reiserfs (set active) and a 2GB FAT32.

did u try to select ur gui to kde in the login menu?
a dropdown menu appears at sessions .
try that
if noerror reported during install it should work ok.
