testing php code

I work with knoppix as my desktop OS, no server use therefore, but I'm wondering if I have a way to test php code on my desktop assuming that knoppix came with apache and php, avoiding a big hassle of upload every time code on server to test it.
A step by step explanation will be apreciated, thank to all.
