Language Settings

I currently use GRUB to boot knoppix;my menus are in English and my regional settings are US english.However in the konsole for instance in vi the language seems to be german not English.

How do I correct this?

Try:

install-keymap us
dpkg-reconfigure console-common

That didn't seem to help any other suggestions?

Try dpkg-reconfigure locales

And only select en_us locales

apt-get install localepurge if you want to keep tabs on installed locales
