problems with 56k modem

ok,
i've configured the modem and when it tries to dial-up it stops on initializing modem. i'm using a Motorola SM56 56K modem. and help would be appriciated[/u]

Try wvdial for more info. Make sure it is not a winmodem. www.winmodems.org Run wvdialconfig and edit 3 lines. I need init2 for my actiontec call-waiting modem. Here is my /etc/wvdial.conf file.
