    Boot problems with Knoppix

Tried to run Knoppix on a computer that normally runs Windows XP with ScriptLogic (removes some functions in Windows) but i ran in to a problem.

    Booting Knoppix goes well until:

    Code:
Creating directories and symlinks on ramdisc...
After that this error code repeats several times:

    Code:
    scsi0: ERROR on channel 0, id 0, lun 0, CDB 0x03 00 00 00 40 00
    Info fld=0x5561c, current sd0b:00: sns = f0 3
    ASC=11 ASCQ= 0
    Raw sense data: 0xf0 0x00 0x03 0x00 0x05 0x56 0x1d 0x0a 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x11 0x00
    I/O error: dev 0b : 00, sector 1398900
    And this error code:

    Code:
cloop: Read error at pos 710930696 in file /cdrom/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX, 14297 bytes lost.
    cloop: error -3 uncompressed block 28590 65536/0/17967/0 576049468-576067435
After a couple of minutes does it boots but when it tries to run X I get an error and the only option is to click "Okay". When I do that I returns to the commandline.

I have tried to set the bios settings to default but it doesnt help.
Any suggestions on what i can do? Thanks in advance.

Did you check the md5 sum of the file you downloaded? It looks like Knoppix thinks the clopp file is corrupt.

If you did check the md5 checksum against the posted md5 and confirmed the file you burnt was not corrupt, I would suggest trying booting again with the nodma option.

    Forgot to check the md5-sum.

    Will post the result later.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

    What happened to me...

I was getting this too. I replaced my DVD drive with one that worked.

Looks like Windows is more resiliant to read errors, happily going back for correct data
