will my video card and motherboard work?

Knoppix should be able to probe your vid card and autodetect it just fine. If not, you can always use a universal svga driver...

I have the same processor. But on my machine it doesn't work without a cheatcode. If you get a multiprocessor error then on boot type knoppix nosmp.
