Problem with Wireless connection on a Dell Latitude D400
I recently installed Knoppix onto the hard drive of this laptop, and in my attempts to get everything running smoothly, I have had some major troubles with getting the Wireless network card to work. I have read all across the internet that this is a very difficult card to work with under all distributions of linux, but I have found no solution to the problem. So I just wanted to ask, does anyone here have a solution for this Wireless card? Thanks you.
Edit: I may as well ask this as well, would it be better to just go out and get an external wireless card and use that instead?

I checked the following link and seems like there is no linux driver for the D400 wireless card
http://www.linlap.com/wiki/Dell+Latitude+D400
So the only alternative you have is to use the ndiswrapper method.
You may want to check out the following link for what I have tried on the D600 and D610
http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Network_FAQ
Also if you are looking for the windows driver on the D400 you can try the following Dell support link
http://support.dell.com/support/down...g=en&TabIndex=
Good luck and have fun.

CBerry,
Just happened to find out D400 uses the same wireless card 1450 as the D600 and D610.
So you should be able to follow my instructions on the 2nd links to connect knoppix with wireless.
If you cannot get the oem?.inf and BCMWL5.sys file yourself, give me you email address and I can ship mine to you. They are small files anyway.
Rgds,
Chip
