January2023 marks the 39th Anniversary of the launch of this original MacintoshM0001 128K model! The original Mac was introduced with the famousOrwellian '1984' commercial during the Super Bowl on January 22, 1984 and wasthe very first reasonably affordable personal computer to use a mouse and aGraphical User Interface (GUI) with desktop icons. This Macintosh was producedduring week 37 of 1984 as decoded from the serial # label on the Mac thatbegins with F437 (F= Fremont, CA production plant, 4= 1984, 37 = 37th week ofyear) indicating this Mac was produced mid-September 1984, the Macintosh was firstintroduced and launched in late January 1984. Original 'Macintosh' emblemand Model M0001 label on rear (very late 1984 production M0001 Macs had arevised 'Macintosh 128k' emblem starting sometime during week 47 of production, all Macsbefore then had this original "Macintosh" emblem).SteveJobs and the original Macintosh team signatures are molded inside the rear casehousing as shown.

Macintoshsystem unit- (Model M0001)- RARE ORIGINAL128K RAM Macintosh motherboard! NOT upgraded nor modified! Original early style 1983 dated 128K only motherboard (later in 1984 Apple made a hybrid 1984 dated Macintosh board that could be configured as either 128K or 512K when the Macintosh 512K model was introduced). CPU dated coded 8430 indicating week 30 of 1984 production; and both original Version A Apple ROM chips which are date coded 8416 and 8416 indicating week 16 of 1984 production. Original 128K RAM chips all present with the Apple logo stamped on them!Upgrades to 128K Macs to 512K RAM motherboards and higher capacity disk drives were very common as upgrades became available, however the internal upgrades were often not noted on the outer case. Therefore, many original M0001 Macs still have the original case labels/emblems but that alone does not guarantee that they still have the original 128K board and 400K drive inside, which is where much of the collector value lies now.

This is a TRUE 128K Mac as it came from Apple in 1984 with the original non-modified motherboard and disk drive inside! When a Mac was upgraded with the official Apple upgrade kit the original 128K board was removed and swapped out for a new 512K board, so the original board was lost forever! Non-official upgrades made modifications to the original board thereby taking away originality.

Mac isthe original beige/cream color, not all darkly yellowed, discolored, mismatched, marked up, cracked, or damaged like many are now. No markerwriting, no stickers or old sticker outlines, no cracks or missing parts, noengravings, only very minor imperfections as expected for a nearly 39 year old pre-ownedcomputer, very hard to find now in this very nice clean cosmetic condition. Scratch on bottom of case as shown. NOugly pry marks to any of the case seams of the Mac as this unit was never priedapart improperly with the wrong tools like many were, which greatly detractsfrom appearance and value as many have large nicks and chips at the seams, butoften is not shown, or cannot be seen in photos. Many of these early Macswere improperly pried apart along the case seams to open leaving ugly gouges and marks on the plastic case, but this one was not.

Screenis bright, crisp, and stable with no burned-in image, or scratches on theglass. No corrosion to rear clock battery compartment, unlike many thathave damage from an old battery that leaked out causing internal damage and corrosion.

Allfour original rubber feet on bottom of case and clean. Inside of Mac case isexceptionally clean, no corrosion, no dirt or dust, properly stored.

OriginalSony 400K Single-Sided Internal Disk Drive-Disk insert and eject mechanism serviced, cleaned and re-lubed so disks go in andout smoothly like new again! Drive read/write head cleaned and tested.

Includedoriginal Macintosh disks load, run, and eject as expected.Original Macsare completely dependent on the internal floppy drive, as there is no hard drive, sohaving a properly serviced and tested floppy disk drive like this Mac isessential for actual use of the system. Most found now will have non-functioning drives that need extensive service or complete replacement, and these early drives are hard to find now.
