APPLE COMPUTER, RARE APPLE collection, 1980s Vintage APPLE, APPLE CREDIT:
$510000.00
This is more than likely the most complete and well documented collection related to the original Apple Computer credit cards released during the early 1980s currently known to exist. Included in the photos is a screenshot of communication between myself and the Apple Computer Museum in Italy, which houses the largest collection of Apple Computer memorabilia in the world. As shown in the email, they don't even have access to some of the items in this collection, which verifies the rarity of the collection. The price reflects the rarity of the items, but feel free to submit your best offer.
The forms in the collection are close to 40 years old and the accounts were discontinued decades ago. Being that they are historical they are being included in the collection to help preserve the history of Apple by showing multiple angles of Apple's credit card operation, including interest rates at the time and the cost of products. All personal info on the original forms and cards have been redacted in the photos out of respect for the original customer but will remain untouched on the original documents.
These items tell an interesting part of the history of Apple, Inc. with some items that most people have never seen. Due to the high cost of computers during the 1980s, the Apple Credit Plan would have played a role in the success of the company making the computers more accessible to the masses by offering payment assistance. At the time the Apple Credit Plan was introduced Apple was less than 10 years old. This shows how meteoric their rise was. They went from working out of a garage in 1976 to selling computers across the globe and partnering with major brands in a very short time. The Apple Credit Plan shows how innovative the company was. Instead of making customers use other forms of credit or loans to buy their products Apple was already thinking ahead and allowed customers to apply for credit at checkout and walk away with a new Macintosh all in one trip to the store.
Included in the collection are:
1. Two original examples of the Apple credit cards from 1984 w/ original invoices verifying the date of the white credit card and brochures verifying the date of the black credit card.
2. An extremely rare sales kit for the original Apple Credit Plan (1985) which is about 90% complete (only missing the sample card, stickers, and sales guide) and includes an original Apple branded cassette player that was made as part of a partnership between Apple Computer, Inc and General Electric specifically for the sales kit. I have searched online high and low for another example of the Apple cassette player without any luck, which means that this cassette player could be one of only a few or quite possibly the last one currently known to still exist! The sales kit was not a commercial release for the general public since it was used as training tool for salesmen, which means the items in the kit wouldn't have been mass produced like a commercial item intended for retail, which explains the rarity. Used the cassette player roughly 30 seconds to test tape and it did work.
3. An original promotional key chain advertising the Apple Credit Plan ca. 1980s
4. Original itemized invoice from Apple Computer in Cupertino, CA showing an Apple Credit Plan purchase from 1984 and the cost of items during that time period.
5. An Apple Credit purchase receipt showing interest rates, credit limit, minimum payment due, etc.
6. An original pre-order form for the original Macintosh computer, which was the most anticipated computer launch from the 1980s. The Macintosh was introduced to the public via the famous "1984" Superbowl commercial directed by Ridley Scott which aired on January 22, 1984, and officially became available for purchase on January 24, 1984. The order form included in the collection is dated January 20, 1984, which makes it a pre-order for the original Macintosh with the option selected to purchase using Apple Credit.
7. Original advertising brochures discussing both versions of the Apple credit cards that are included in this collection
