Altair-Duino Standard Altair 8800a Replica Emulator VT100:
$299.95
This is a \"shelf-friendly\" replica of the Altair 8800a computer from 1976. The 8800a followed the original 8800 that was release in late 1974. The 8800a added flat toggle switches which worked much better than the original round toggles in the debut model.
The original Altair was 18\" deep and not well suited to displaying on a shelf. This replica has the same front panel look, but a more shallow form factor making it more easily displayed in your home or office.
As well as good-looking, this replica is fully functional. It includes an array of outputs including a DE9 serial connection (if you have an original serial terminal or teletype) as well as a built-in VT100 emulator that connects to a VGA monitor and USB keyboard.
The front and rear panels are made of acrylic, and the frame is custom designed and constructed of 5mm thick aluminum.
I normally sell these in kit form on my website, but I occasionally have to build one to test new components and designs. This is based on David Hansel\'s design published on Hackster.io in 2017.
This unit is fully assembled and tested, and comes with an SD card with a variety of CP/M, Altair DOS, and Altair BASIC software. It will also come with a USB cable, power supply, and brief instructional manual. Dimensions are 15.5\" x 6.5\" x 3\".
