Atari 1040 ST with box matching serial numbers, tested fully and works! I am trying to downsize and selling my personal collection of retro gear. I am an electrical engineer and enjoy repairing these machines.


I installed a new-old-stock set of key caps, you will not find this anywhere else, this keyboard alone is worth $200 or so just because the keys have ZERO yellowing. I also composite modded this, so you can hook it to a regular TV with the yellow and white RCA plugs, you just need the Atari proprietary A/V cable to work.


This case is in very good shape and I don't notice yellowing and seems a bit faded because of the brand new key caps.


The Atari Badge above the keys has some blemishes.


This is a US unit, no mouse. You only get the main unit and power cord. The Atari RGB to VGA adapter is NOT included.


I opened this unit, cleaned it inside and out. The previous owner had done some sort of mod, but it has long been removed, I assume a faster CPU or something.  The CPU has a 68000 socket soldered on top.


It has a hole drilled in the back, that looks like it was for a toggle switch for the mod.


Case is in great shape, like everything this age a very slight bit of yellowing and fade.


Floppy formatted a disk ok, no funny noises, color mode worked fine, audio works fine, as do the mouse/joystick ports. 


Didn't do any further testing. All the caps are original.


Previous owner had shipped it to his nephew, and wrote the address on the box, has tape marks too.


1040STF will be packed in the original box with an outer box.
