Commodore VIC-1001 Rare Japanese VIC-20 Retro Vintage Computer READ

This is the super-rare VIC-1001, the early PET-keys Japanese version of the VIC-20 with VIC-1001 badge and katakana PETSCII characters. I purchased it from a source in Japan, and unfortunately it is not fully working and powers on to a black screen with static, both via video out and RF. In other words, it is putting out some sort of signal, but it's not a clear or working signal. It will need to go to someone who has knowledge of board repair.

Physically the computer is in good shape, with moderate yellowing (not great, not terrible). The keyboard has not been tested. Computer comes by itself, and does not include power adapter or cabling. Keep in mind that Japanese computers need 100V, so it may be risky using an American power supply.

A couple of the small plastic interlocking clips may be broken off of where the two case halves go together in the back, however enough of them are still there that it closes securely and is not a problem. VIC-1001 top badge has a minor scratch as shown.

Again, this is likely a good unit for repair, although I cannot say to what extent it is repairable. The fact that turning it on does generate a response on the screen makes me hopeful. However, due to the unknown factors I must sell 100% as-is.
